About Dr. Amy Derick, MD

Dr. Amy Derick is a leading board-certified dermatologist and the founder of Derick Dermatology, one of the largest, highly-rated independent dermatology clinics in the United States. Helande is inspired by her patient-centric clinic, an embodiment of Amy’s determination to put the power of dermatologist-curated skincare into your hands at home. 

Amy’s story of Helande

From a young age, I wanted to help people. 

My earliest memories are of my Swedish grandmother Jane, a nurse whose love for helping others was so vibrant she practically glowed. I basked in her wisdom about how to take care of yourself. She spoke with such confidence and beauty (and wow, did she have incredible skin). She sparked something in me that guides me to this day: a passion for helping others embrace their best selves through living well.

For nearly two decades, I have made this passion a reality through dermatology. I went on to found Derick Dermatology, one of the largest independent dermatology practices in the country, where we’re known for putting our patients’ needs above all else. Helande is my next chapter, created to answer a key question I heard all the time: How do I care for my skin at home? 

The answer goes back to my grandmother Jane’s deep understanding of self-care and vitality. I curated these skincare solutions to pass along her dedication to nurturing your skin. The same one that has driven my work and life for decades. 

We want our products to instill in you the ability to feel vibrant, confident, and complete in your own skin. Just like my grandmother Jane would have wanted.

  • Founder, owner, and CEO of Derick Dermatology, LLC, one of the largest independent dermatology clinics with 23 locations across Illinois and Florida (and over 87,000 5-star reviews!)

  • Received her Doctorate in Medicine (with honors) and completed her dermatology residency at the University of Chicago.

  • Chosen as the Advocate of the Year (2021) by the American Academy of Dermatology, in recognition of her advocacy at the state and national level in Dermatology.

  • Included on the list of America’s Best Cosmetic Dermatologists (2022) by Newsweek, one of just 125 dermatologists recognized.

  • Holds faculty appointments at Northwestern University, University of Chicago, and University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where she serves as a Clinical Instructor of Dermatology, Academic Associate Member of Dermatology, and Voluntary Assistant Professor in the Department of Dermatology, respectively.

  • Received the Presidential Citation Award: Commitment (2020) from the American Academy of Dermatology for being instrumental in passing the first state legislation in the US classifying skin cancer screenings as preventative care without any out-of-pocket costs to the patient.
